We Are Turning Awareness Into Action

Love Your Colon was created to increase awareness of colorectal cancer and the importance of screening and prevention. And, it's working!

Love Your Colon History

Now, we hope to:

  • Continue to increase screening rates
  • Decrease the number of colorectal cancer–related deaths

Love Your Colon began in 2007, when the Center for Colon Cancer Research (CCCR) at the University of South Carolina and key partners formed the Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Action Committee, whose primary mission was to reduce the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer in South Carolina.

In 2011, the Love Your Colon initiative launched as a joint initiative among doctors, researchers, pharmacists, survivors, advocates and health insurers. These stakeholders came together to focus on promoting awareness of colorectal cancer and screening among people of all ages.

Through the resources on this site, Love Your Colon aims to create a better understanding of screening options and encourage people to take action against colorectal cancer.
